Hi my name's Matt Fryy. I'm a web developer, technology blogger and social activist from Peterborough, UK.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor

I just went for a walk down my street and I’m staggered by how many households have X Factor on, many of which were watching in three separate rooms or more!
It got me thinking… What if people used 10% of the time that they currently devote to consuming ironically fake and advertisement ridden ‘reality’ shows, such as the X Factor, to, I don’t know, thinking? Surely then we’d be a much smarter and better informed nation (neigh, world), aware of the corporatocracy which pushes out shit like this, keeping people stupid and content with their mundane jobs and repetitive lifestyles, in the hope that one day they too will have their 5 minutes of fame, big bank account, ‘dream job’, designer clothes, expensive car, and every other form of high class novelty which is sold through programming such as this.
And I know that people want to come home and relax, I know they want to switch off from their debts, their work and their worries, of course in this system everybody needs to, but it’s equally as important to remember that the heavily edited glossy picture of high-class ‘success’ which is just isn’t relevant, real or important, is itself dependent on the working and middle class’s desire to obtain it.
We only play this game once. We get 80, 90, 100 years on this planet with our friends, family and selves. Don’t waste half of it consuming plastic media.
